BetterZip

For Mac OS

BetterZip lets you open archives without immediately extracting them. This is much faster and you don't have to remove the extracted files and folders after using them. The currently supported archive formats are: ZIP, TAR, GZip, and BZip. Add files and folders to existing archives, update files already in the archive, move files around within the archive, and delete files and folders from an archive. Easily search for files and folders by name inside the archive. BetterZip lets you create ?clean? archives without the Mac specific files (Finder configuration or resource forks) to happily exchange with Windows or Linux users. New in this version: See complete release notes. Requirements: OS X 10.4 or later, including Leopard Universal Binary

BetterZip lets you quickly inspect archives without first extracting their contents. You can add or extract files via drag-and-drop, delete files from archives, rename files, and create new folders inside the archive. BetterZip can open and extract archives with the most common formats: ZIP (including AES-256 encryption), SIT, TAR, GZip, BZip2, RAR, 7-Zip, CPIO, ARJ, LZH/LHA, JAR, WAR, CAB, ISO, CHM, RPM, DEB, NSIS, BIN, HQX, DD. BetterZip can automatically remove Mac specific files for maximum compatibility with Windows and Linux. BetterZip 1.5 has a preview that quickly displays images, PDF, HTML, and text files in a drawer without the need for starting external programs.

This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.
